Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qureshi, a prominent leader of the Islamic State (IS) group, was recently killed during a battle. The IS group’s spokesman released the audio on Wednesday, saying that the group’s leader Abu al-Hasan al-Hashimi al-Qureshi was killed during a recent battle.

Little is known about al-Hashimi al-Qurayshi. Who took over the group’s operations after Abu Ibrahim al-Hashimi al-Qureshi was killed in a US strike in northwest Syria in February. IS spokesman Abu Umar al-Mujahir made the announcement at a time when IS is preparing to carry out deadly attacks in parts of Syria and Iraq. Al-Mujahir said that Abu al-Hussein al-Husayni al-Qurayshi has been named the new leader of the group. IS founder Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was killed in October 2019 in an attack in the northwest.
