IND vs BAN: In the first match of the two-match Test series, Team India defeated Bangladesh by 188 runs. In the first hour of the fifth day of the match, India won the match. KL Rahul was the captain of the team in the absence of Rohit Sharma for this match. This was Rahul’s first Test win as captain. With this win, the Indian team has gone ahead 1-0 in the series. While talking after the match, Rahul told how hard the team had to work for this victory.

Bangladesh team overpowered

Coming off a win in the first Test against Bangladesh in Chattogram, Test captain KL Rahul admitted that the visiting team had to work hard for the result. After setting Bangladesh a mammoth target of 513 runs, Indian bowlers were thrashed by Najmul Hossain Shanto (67) and Zakir Hasan (100), but the bowlers managed to take wickets in the end. The opening partnership of 124 runs between the two batsmen saw the team go wicketless in the first session of the fourth day.

Had to work hard- Rahul

“We had to work really hard for this win,” said the skipper. The win also meant that India moved up to the third spot in the World Test Championship standings. The valuable 12 points from the win mean India now have a win-percentage of 55.77, surpassing Sri Lanka and behind only table-toppers Australia and second-placed South Africa. Rahul further said, “The pitch was flat so the bowlers were not getting much help, but the fast bowlers took wickets. Especially Umesh got us back by bowling brilliantly.

Great performance by the batsmen

Rahul was pleased with the batting performances of Shreyas Iyer and Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a half-century in the first innings along with Rishabh Pant’s 46. Pujara along with opener Shubman Gill scored a century in the second innings. With the ball, Akshar and Kuldeep were lethal along with Mohammed Siraj and Umesh Yadav, who scalped crucial wickets.
