Babar Azam
PAK vs ENG: In the ongoing third Test between Pakistan and England, the host team is standing on the verge of defeat. The England team, led by Ben Stokes, has strengthened its grip in Karachi, just 55 runs away from a series clean sweep. Meanwhile, Pakistan captain Babar Azam seems to be embroiled in a new controversy. Babar did not field during the first hour on the second day of the third cricket test against England. He was probably protesting against the players and their families not being exempted from strict security regulations.
According to media reports, Babar was irate when he was stopped from going out for dinner at the team hotel on Saturday night along with other teammates and their families. Babar had planned to go to a local restaurant with Sarfaraz Ahmed, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood and Imam-ul-Haq and their families. However, when Babar came down from his hotel room, the security personnel stopped him from going out and made it clear that he and the other players would have to take prior permission to go out as both the teams had to receive a presidential-level visit for the series against England. Security has been provided. The captain was unhappy with the security measures and after a heated argument with a senior officer, he angrily returned to his room.
According to reports, on Sunday, he did not turn up to lead the team for an hour and remained in the dressing room to protest against the behavior of the security personnel. The Pakistan Cricket Board remained tight-lipped on the issue but it was officially stated that Babar did not take the field for the first hour due to a headache.
