2022 has been quite a disruptive year as innumerable movies have impacted our mindset. Compelling story and strong cast, 2022 has given us amazing movies. These movies not only enthralled us but also made quite an impact in Bollywood!
1. Miley
Janhvi Kapoor’s breathtaking performance in the survival thriller-drama kept us on the edge of our seats till the very end! The film Miley directed by Mathukutty Xavier was a thriller, if you like thriller then this movie is a perfect movie. Janhvi Kapoor’s performance on the big screen as survivor Mili Naudial with absolute dedication is a sheer delight to watch. The plot revolves around a 25-year-old Mili Naudial, who accidentally gets trapped in a freezer. The story progresses as she fights for her life. Exuding the spirit of fighting the problem and the will to live, Miley still lives on in our minds.
2. Raksha Bandhan
The Aanand L Rai directorial made us bond with our family once again. A complete family entertainer, Raksha Bandhan celebrates the sweet bond between a brother and a sister. It portrays the struggle of a brother to bring up his sisters and eventually marry them. Akshay Kumar perfectly plays the Indian brother and makes us cry. The film aptly throws light on an important subject – dowry and gives us a lot of lessons to learn. The director’s passionate yet realistic approach won the hearts of many.
3. Drishyam 2
A sequel to the blockbuster film Drishyam, the film stars Ajay Devgn, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Akshaye Khanna and Ishita Dutta. The film opened strongly at the box office and earned over 200 crores during its theatrical run. It is a remake of the 2021 Malayalam film of the same name.
4. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect
The biographical drama inspired by the life of Nambi Narayanan, a scientist who worked with ISRO and was accused of espionage but was later acquitted. The film stars R Madhavan in the lead role and received critical as well as audience appreciation for bringing to light one of the lesser known stories.
5. Gangubai Kathiawadi
The film is a biographical crime drama starring Alia Bhatt in the lead role and directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Shantanu Maheshwari and Vijay Raaz in key roles. Gangubai is based on the true story of Ganga Jagjivandas Kathiawadi, who was known as Gangubai Kothewali. Alia Bhatt’s performance blew every viewer’s mind away and Bhatt was praised for acing every aspect beautifully on screen.
6. Chup: Revenge of the Artist
The psychological thriller directed by Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Sunny Deol is directed by R. In comes a superb delivery by Balki. The story revolves around a man who becomes a psychopathic serial killer due to the turmoil of his childhood and the trauma caused by his father. The star cast nailed each scene to the hilt and kept it absolutely engaging. What a difference the right star cast makes to a film. The director knows how to score with such compelling stories.
7. Runway 34
Vikrant Khanna (Ajay Devgn) takes a flight from Doha to Kochi with his co-pilot Tanya (Rakulpreet). Amitabh Bachchan is also in the film.
8. Brahmastra
The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, Nagarjuna and Alia Bhatt. The film Brahmastra Part One Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji, was released in theaters on 9 September, where the film did a business of crores at the box office.
9. Height
The film features a stellar cast including Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta. Seeing the film’s earnings at the box office, it is clear that the audience is liking this effort of Sooraj Barjatya.
10. Art
This is the story of a mother who is more in love with the singer picked up from the gurudwara than her real daughter and so much love that she is ready to lay down in front of Chandan Lal Sanyal, a famous singer of that time, to get him a chance in films.
